Alumni Statutes

The Statutes of the Norwegian Society of Fulbright Grantees Fulbright Alumni Association

1. PURPOSE
The aim of the Fulbright Alumni Association – Norway (FAAN) is to strengthen academic, social and cultural ties between the United States and Norway, and maintain bonds between Fulbright alumni and the larger Fulbright community.

2. MEMBERS
Any person who has completed a period of study assisted by a Fulbright grant may become a member of FAAN. By request, members of other Fulbright Alumni Associations in Europe will be given information and access to FAAN events.

3. REGIONAL GROUPS
FAANs headquarters is in Oslo. Regional groups may be established.

4. THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee governs FAAN. It consists of five members; Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership-coordinator, and Public Relations coordinator.The Executive Director of the Fulbright Office in Norway will sit on the Executive Committee as a non-voting representative for U.S.-Norway Fulbright Foundation for Educational Exchange. In addition, up to three deputy board members can be assigned.

5. ELECTION
Election to the Executive Committee takes place at the Annual Meeting. The members of the Executive Committee are elected for a two-year term and can be re-elected for one additional term. The Executive Commitee will organize itself. Preferably, two former board members will constitute the Election Committee. In addition Two Auditors will be chosen at the annual meeting.

All elections will be decided by the majority.

6. MEMBERSHIP FEE
FAANs membership fee is decided upon at the Annual Meeting. It shall be paid in advance and must be recieved by November 1st.

7. ANNUAL MEETING
FAAN convenes the Annual Meeting, which will take place before July 1st, with at least fourteen days’ notice. Matters which members wish dealt with at the Annual Meeting must be sent in writing to the Committee. Suggestions for alterations in the Statutes will accompany the final notice to the Annual Meeting and shall be approved by a majority of the 2/3 of the votes received. Extraordinary general meetings may be called at the request of at least twenty members, or when FAAN deems it necessary.

8. DISSOLUTION
FAAN may be dissolved by a 75% majority of the members, in which case the Association’s assets will go to the U.S.-Norway Fulbright Foundation for Educational Exchange.
